Very seldom does a band's name embody as much about their sound and style as does Vintage Villain. Their straight forward often times bluesy riffs, multi part harmonies and thumping rhythms all hearken back to the days of when vinyl was still the preferred medium. However with their distinctive guitar sounds and production qualities that could only come from today, no listener is left thinking that this band is just a blast from the past.

Begun in Brooklyn, NY in the fall of 2008 by vocalist Leon Angel and guitarist turned bassist Williston Cox IV. Vintage Villain began rehearsing regularly, sometimes augmented by keyboards and organ, and developed a sound that would best be described as lo-fi and rough around the edges. However, the keyboards would soon be dropped and with the addition of Ryan Dearth on guitar in the spring of 2009 the band's sound would finally come to life. His addition would also give the band it's name. No longer was their sound just old or vintage, but now had a more modern edge. Thus Vintage Villain was born.

After debuting on the live scene in the summer of 2009, Vintage Villain has been playing regularly throughout New York City and has begun to pick up up a larger following with each gig. In the spring of 2010 drummer Kyle Dailey would solidify the band's lineup. Bringing with him a wealth of musical knowledge, his skill and technical virtuosity fit perfectly within the realm already set forth by the rest of the band.

October of 2010 would see the first release by Vintage Villain. Unofficially known as the Cherry EP, the self produced effort was recorded at Mercy Sound in New York and contained three 3 tracks written by the band over the previous year and a half. With the fast pace sonic lift off of the opening track "What I Know", to the subtle, but infectious groove of the title track "Cherry" along with the straight forward rock and roll of "Down the Road". Each track embodies every facet of the band's sound.

For their next release, Vintage Villain will be working with acclaimed producer/ engineer Anthony "Rocky" Gallo (John Legend, Jon Bon Jovi, The Killers). Looking to continue in the same direction as with the first record, the band's hope is that the outside influence will allow for even more growth and refined songs. With the band still very much in its infancy, look for much more to come from this Brooklyn quartet.
